PRISON ISLAND

Today turtle island but once

...was uninhabited until the 1860,

when the first Sultan of Zanzibar give it to two Arab slave traders,who trasformed it into a place of detention for the unruly slaves.

At the beginningof the twentieth century,

 

following the spread of yellow fever inn the British colonies in East Africa,Prison island was used as a quarantine station for Zanzibar,Kenya,Uganda and Tanganika,and the prison was converted to the hospital.
