JOZANI FOREST
Jozani Forest became a protected natural area in 1960, with the status of a simple forest reserve. The park is home to a population of about 500 specimens of the Zanzibar red colobus. Another primate present is the white-throated vervet.
Among the mammals present are
also worthy of mention the Ader's duiker, a small antelope threatened with extinction, the suni (Neotragus moschatus) and the servaline genet of Zanzibar (Genetta servalina archeri), a small and elusive viverrid carnivore whose presence in the area has been documented thanks to photographic traps
